This is not a laughing matter. Sources claim that Nigeria's most successful (arguable) comedian Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth has acquired a 2013 Opel Insignia car, customised to his taste.

Well, acquiring a car isn't much news, what however got me interested is that he is (reportedly) the first man in Africa to get the ride. It costs £42, 000.

When you're big, you're large and when you're in large, you're in charge and when you're in charge, you discharge.

You remember this pose? This was when he scored against Germany in the Euro 2012 semi-final and now, Mario Balotelli wants this pose in a life-sized statue of himself. The Milan striker has engaged the services of a local artist to immortalize himself. He's going to keep the statue in his home.

According to the artist, "I presented several drawings but Mario wanted to be immortalised in a pose that shows him having scored a goal, highlighting his muscles and with an expression of defiance.

"I have imagined him as an athlete from ancient times and the statue will be a mix of classical and pop style in platinum and coloured bronze with the eyes made of stones."

Still on Darey Art Alade's Love like a movie concert, I know it has come and gone (if not buried) but the show has got some tongues wagging. Here's an article I got from thewriters'creed website.
N.B: This article does not represent the view of the members of the editorial team of this blog.

When will Nigerian entertainment entrepreneurs learn? That's the question I keep asking myself when I see shows poorly packaged. I am not a learned music entrepreneur or a guru in the entertainment industry but i have common sense. However, don't take me seriously. This is just my opinion. When i heard Kim k was coming to Nigeria, I just scoffed. Someone said 'bad belle' and I replied "You will see it's just a scam!!!"
Scam? Well, she came. That in itself is not a scam. Now the question really is "who was scammed?" Honestly, I'd say everyone including Kim k. Before you castrate me, let me explain myself.

First, let me disagree with this contentious argument about the fees. I don't see any reason why Kim k cannot earn or make the supposed $500,000 dollars in Nigeria. The simple reason is: she is very marketable.
You cannot put a cap on anyone's financial value. Including you!!! Anyone can be worth whatever they choose. And I'll admit, her marketability is probably her only talent. All the management company that brought her would have done is all in the word 'LEVERAGE'… Simple English word 'LEVERAGE'
The stage was set, the season was divine [valentine], Kim k was the product [she is sexy, very true]. All that was missing was common sense.

Kim k has endorsed and made lots of beauty products that sell all over the world between $20 and $250 [about N3, 200 and N 40,000]. Those who are staunch followers of the Kardashians will have more info that some of her products sell for more. Her brother Rob, has a socks line that sells for a minimum of $30 a pair [about N 4,800]

Now, why don't you take her to malls in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt for instance? All you need is some nice comfy chairs, good pen or marker and some guys with 10 packs as security and bouncers. Dem plenty for naija!! Sell these autographed products to Nigerians, she autographs them, money is made and everyone smiles. It's the season of love. Kim k is one of the symbols of sex and romance. What a perfect gift to add to your Val collection for your partner.

The benefits of this strategy are:

Kim k would have gone to major cities in Nigeria selling her products and building her African profile to about 170m Nigerians. That's huge
She would have made loads of cash. She was supposedly paid $500,000. Let's say N 80m, i understand millions better.Mathematically;

80,000,000 = 80,000 people x N 1,000 [mind you, none of these products go for 1,000]
80,000,000 = 8,000 people x N 10,000 [this would buy 1 pair of socks and a bottle of perfume]
80,000,000 = 40,000 people x N 2,000 [this can still buy something on the stands]
80,000 000 = 4,000 people x N 20,000 [this can buy two pairs of socks and different bottles of perfume]. And many more.

With these permutations, you can achieve more in all of these cities combined. Even much more!! And don't forget to collect N 1,000 at the gate for those who just want to sight see. We too like show na!!! So feed your eyes. At least, it's Kim k. Personally, I would buy at least 3 pairs of socks so I won't finish the 'Rob' in the socks on time due to washing. Na celeb socks na!!

The malls would enjoy traffic on these days and they will sell other items in their shelves they won't normally sell. They got human bodies through their doors. You don't have to pay the malls. They can even pay you to host the event. They have the space. You bring the product [Kim k] and the human traffic. shikena!!
Darey could perform at intervals when Kim k is resting while selling any of your albums. Make the fans enjoy!

I won't list all. Consult me for more.
2. If you can provide her with these opportunities, she may not even collect up to the N 80m sef!!. She understands that brands will bring residual income. She can reduce her fees knowing fully well that when Nigerians travel, they will buy her products. So you see here that we got the price down. Simple Logic!!!

3. I don't think Mr. Darey paid Kim k from his own pocket. If he did, then I must collect my own. However, it's safe to assume that some corporate bodies contributed handsomely. But whatever you collect from sponsors plus these massive sales, could have conveniently paid her reduced fees; and you can keep the change. Never mind, sponsors already enjoy the hype. There is money in Nigeria to play around with.
On a positive note, I'd like to say that the most beneficial of this deal was Beat-FM. The response from the interview conducted by the lovely presenter Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi [I love her full name, it sounds like a very sweet Yoruba soup that you can mix with ewedu, some bokoto and round-about and those pomo that melt at the sound of your teeth]. I don't know how much Beat FM paid to be the official radio channel but by all means, many people listened to the interview, it was relayed I think once and uploaded on their website.

Talk of leverage, I hail Beat FM.
Just check the thread on social media. It created buzz for the radio station my brothers and sisters. Kudos again, Beat-FM. Now to the star struck Nigerians. We still don't learn from these debacles. Still fresh in our memories was the alleged co-host/chief host saga of one of my finest actors [E.A, I won't mention his name]. He actually appeared on stage for about 40 minutes drunk and dis-oriented. Memoirs from the 'KK' concert [if you can decode that]. I wasn't there but I heard people trekked to the venue for long distances including our celebrities. Phones were stolen, legs swollen, dresses dusty…. mega stress. I even heard the chief host of the concert said it was the V.I.P guests they paid for the regulars (Regular peeps, make una thank V.I.P., na dem pay for the show gan gan). What an idiotic statement! And the exclusive V.I.P guests were sinking in the sand. They were now told to spread out, so the ground will balance. What a shame!!!

We see concerts of Cold Play and other stars. Of course there is V.I.P but the so called regular have most of the fun. They sing along, dance and are properly entertained for their money's worth.
What happened to B.R.T. buses? Why can't you partner with them to convey people to and fro your concert? Why must we be treated like animals and still smile, brag and forget about it.

Father Fela already said we like suffering and smiling. I am sure we will repeat the same this December. This time, look for flats so you can endure the trek well enough! Whenever theses shows are planned, I will gladly take care of the customer service. Worry about making the money, let me worry about giving people the best experience. Everyone must enjoy jare.

Now who was scammed?
Kim k would have made more money and left a good brand experience in Nigeria. Many African countries would have loved to invite her to repeat the same thing. More money!! More brand name! She was definitely scammed. It was also a waste of time. When you are invited to a place as a celebrity, look to make the most of it.

She could have even made $1m. Traveling more than 20 hours just to make a 45 minute appearance is not smart enough even for her oyinbo management. To the Nigerian management company, don't just settle for the phrase "at least we brought Kim k to naija"!!!  And so what? You could have made the most of it.
To the main artist in this agendum, you are a great performer. With or without Kim k, I will always watch you perform. Nigerians are not tired of seeing you on stage. You are a different breed. Musically enlightened and groomed with the finest culture. Incorporate our local talents or invite artists that can actually sing and make a good show. Next time, exercise more useful thoughts. You are forgiven this time.

Someone said Nigerians will still bring Hulk Hogan to come and roar at an award ceremony and pay him another N 80m. They will call it hype. I laughed. I can't put this past us. We are very capable of messing ourselves up. Celebs all over the world will say 'If they can bring Kim k for a 45 minute appearance and still pay her $500k, then I will collect $X for only 20 minutes appearance." It will be a competition.

Lest I forget, I saw online some actress saying she was better suited to play Kim k's role. Hmmmmm!!! I haven't heard of her before and I know for sure she is not as marketable as Kim k. But if it is only for this 45 minutes appearance, maybe she'd be a cheaper option. Of course she will. But for marketability? Mbaaaaaaa!
This is just one man's opinion.

The remains of the late Susan Olabimpe Harvey (Goldie) was committed to mother earth at Vaults and Gardens cemetery in Ikoyi earlier today.

The late singer died on february 14 2013 of hypertensive heart disease shortly after her arrival from Los Angeles where she in company of the Kennis Music team went to attend the just-concluded Grammy Awards. Meanwhile read her husband Andrew Harvey and best friend, Denrele's tributes

"Susan you walked into my life, it was like God sent you as a fresh breath. I still remember your response to my first love message. You said 'Love killed romeo, sent Diana to an early grave and killed Jack on the Titanic. Forget about love, just have friendship and live long.

My super star friend sways away and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says "she's gone"...Gone where?
Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as gorgeous now as when last I saw her. Her slightly disappearing figure and total loss from my sight is in me, not in her.

And just at that moment, when someone at my side says she's gone, there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon and other voices take up a glad shout - There she comes!
That is what dying is - an horizon and just the limit of our sight.

My lifeline, my lexicon, therapist and support system…we have known lots of pleasure, at times endured ppai, we have lived in the sunshine and walked in the rain. I had acute malaria (was shaking terribly) but performed "skibobo" with you at the Industry Night and Loud&Proud show, I sprained my ankle but still shot your three videos in a row in S/A.
I left my family house and moved in with you and your family right after all the Big Brother Africa madness, I did all the damage control…

I fought every organizer simply cos I wanted you on the bill with me and split my show earnings with you. I dragged you to the American Embassy even if it meant I had to get up at 4am. I endured
negative criticism because shallow minds couldn't. comprehend your brand essence – I started wearing block heels (you got me the most fabulous pair of Jeffrey Campbells) and I damned the consequences. I recorded the reality show "Tru Friendship" with you because you went on and on about it and I wanted to please you.

I have been your fierce-alter ego in all your videos, I have fought your fights, endured countless eccentric P.As with you…I can go on and on and this is how you leave me? You chose an eternal sleep over a fabulous life with me? Lest I forget, I ate the entire box of birthday chocolates Bola sent
to you!

Phew, I can't type anymore, I'm playing "Good To Me" (always disturbed you to release that song) and my notepad is a misty mass of my never ending tears. So sad when people who give you the best memories, become a memory!
The Goldie I knew, despite your success and worldwide recognition, still wondered, "Am I good enough?" "Am I pretty enough?" "Will they like me?" It was this burden that made you great…And
that made you stumble in the end.

Goldie if you can hear me now, you weren't good just good enough – You were abso-frigging-lutely GREAT! You sang the whole damn song without a band- you made the picture of a showbiz star look so perfect! Your parting has left a void, but I will fit it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss and oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Even though we are separated and for a time apart, I am not alone cos you're forever in my heart. I will. move mountains to continue your legacy, I will crash ceilings to spread your good works, I will
break barriers to sell your "market" but above all, I will cherish the awesome times we spent together…You will forever be my source of infinity! We wore the same shoe size and had the same body proportions.

You made me start strutting lashes and recall I wore that black dress of yours you never got to wear? No masterpiece can ever match your face! To everyone reading this piece, let my dear friend rest in peace! Speak no evil about her, she was too good to be true! I can hear you say to me…Mbirikoko, do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, Do not stand at my grave and cry…I am not there, I did not die!

If there's one more person who hasn't "recovered" from Kim Kardashian's short trip to Nigeria, it is Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim.

It would be recalled that the reality show star who ideally was to be special guest at a dinner with 'platinum VIP guests', co-host the Love Like A Movie red carpet session and open the show only did media rounds and sat for at least two interviews.

But the show according to sources, was one of the best musical concerts ever organized in Nigeria and Kim was reportedly paid a whooping sum of $500,000 (N80million).

Juliet Ibrahim took to her instagram page to register her disappointment adding that she would have done much more better.

"Ok here's my 2cents! Been reading comments about Darey's concert and to be honest I don't see why he will pay so much money and fly Kim k down to naija just for a 45sec intro on his show, like seriously!
Bro, u could hv flown me from Gh and I would have represented! What did Kim k do for the 45 secs ? She stood and told a senseless story, I could have stood and told a sensible story about ghana on a Nigerian stage!".

She continued, "Lol no hard feelings but its about time we start appreciating our very own African talents then paying all these foreigners so much for 45seconds performances. Check me out, way hotter than some of them peeps una Dey pay big bucks for nothing better. #wordofadvice #momentoftruth"

Exactly what most of people have been waiting for. An autopsy was carried out on the late Kennis Music singer, Susan 'Goldie' Harvey at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.

The result however revealed that she suffered a terminal 'hypertensive heart disease' which resulted to' intracerebellar haemorrhage.' In PUNCH's findings, Intracerebral hemorrhage occurs when a diseased blood vessel within the brain bursts, allowing blood to leak inside the brain.

The sudden increase in pressure within the brain can cause damage to the brain cells surrounding the blood. If the amount of blood increases rapidly, the sudden buildup in pressure can lead to
unconsciousness or death.

The late Goldie passed on February 14, 2013 shortly after her arrival from Los Angeles where she in company of the Kennis Music team went to attend the just-concluded Grammy Awards.

So we can safely rule out other claims; Drugs, pneumonia etc.

May her soul find repose!

Here's an article I got from Sahara Reporters, if you are a fan of the late Goldie or you're just indifferent about her music/lifestyle, here's an article I think you should read.
N.B: This article does not represent the view of the members of the editorial team of this blog.

By Eseoghene Al-Faruq Ohwojeheri
About ten years ago I lost a friend in an armed robbery incident. Obviously the armed robbers were not satisfied with robbing they needed to make a point by harming someone in the house and my friend's mother was their target.
As they swung the axe my friend who was the scholar of our class in secondary school protected his mother with his head…. he died; no national award, no postmortem speech from the Governor and of course no celebrity burial; he was just another guy, the fact that he took a battle axe to his head for his mother was irrelevant.
This and many more of it happens in a country wherein people get millions both in local and foreign currency for playing football; a country wherein comedians shake hands with the President and women who kiss strange men on camera in the name of acting take home National Award and an immoral youth who made fame singing about his private part is given special opportunity to interview the President in a desperate campaign strategy because the thinking is that the community is populated by zombies and bimbos who will vote in a PHD holder on the "honour" of a nuisance whose only relevance to society, apart from lewd music, is competition in air and space. Thus the question every sane Nigerian should be asking is when will this madness of undeserved honour stop?
The death of the musician from Ekiti, Goldie Harvey, and the attempt to make it seem like we lost an icon is another and perhaps the worst of all these madness. I do not believe that death, which we will all face, should make you a hero except you died an honourable death.
When people just drop dead we grieve and console the family not tell blatant lies as to who they were. This is why the statement of the Ekiti State Governor is worrisome. Mr. Kayode Fayemi is reported to have described Goldie as a "great daughter of Ekiti State" and one has to wonder upon what was this greatness achieved? Are people now great for singing meaningless songs with promiscuous suggestions or for taking and publishing suggestive photos of themselves?
Since when did we consider it greatness to appeal to the sexual cravings of perverts and run after men on camera in the name of a reality show that is far from reality? Since when did it become great achievement that a lady is even thought of as being a junkie in her life time? How can this be great?
In the past fathers will tell their children "don't bring shame to this family" but nowadays shame and shamelessness is celebrated with such noise that you think the Devil himself is in charge of people's life and even he has gone crazy.
Ironically, around the same period this unfortunate death occurred Governor Theodora Orji of Abia State was commending Mrs. Nwanyieze Prosper for winning the Purity Queen title for a lady who kept her virginity until her marriage; surprisingly some Nigerians criticized the Governor and even 'accused' him of giving her a car whereas Governor Kayode Fayemi was praised for describing Goldie as a "bright star" among other accolades including that she lived a "fulfilled life". Indeed the world is upside down.
The problem with giving honour to people who did dishonourable acts is that people will definitely emulate them. The Dolly Parton's of this world made it a fashion for women to expose their cleavage; years on women have lost their husbands to such exposure and homes have collapsed; the Dr. Dre's of this world made being "gangster" a fashionable thing and years later the gangsters are increasing and we even have a gangster in the White House killing innocent people with Drones…. Martin Luther's dreams became a Nightmare.
And this list goes on and on; for every irresponsible person you honour you make irresponsibility the "swag", the same way for every man who dies for his mother you honour you make standing up against oppression and protecting the weak the in-thing…. make your choice.
Lastly, we must clarify two issues. The first one is with regards to speaking "evil" about the dead while the second one is the "who are you to judge" comedy.
Firstly, the dead has already met what he or she put forward hence there is no need to speak of its evil. What there is need to do however is to either call the living to an example to live by if the dead is worthy of emulation or to warn the living to stay away from a wasteful lifestyle like that of the dead who lived life as if death was never going to come and this is the real lesson here; life is short, if you live it like Goldie your death may come and meet you in that state; what will you tell your Creator? We cannot pretend this is not the lesson here; it will be one lie too many
Secondly, they ask us not to Judge and we say to them since we are in the spirit of not judging kindly don't judge the location of your mouth so that you put your food in your nose. We say to them that in this spirit of not judging please cross the road without judging that a vehicle is close enough to knock you down; maybe when you are in the air you will realise your stupidity.
We do not judge a person who has faith that he or she will be in the hellfire, we do not Judge that the person's bad is more than his/her good, we do not Judge if God will forgive a believer…..but we judge that fornication and the promotion of it is EVIL, and that the one who represented evil dead does not make evil good.
Some others will say an adult can do what he or she likes and you don't have to force your life on others. The question we have for this set of confused mentally colonized perverts is that this same justification is given to homosexuality and it will soon be given to incest so that if a grown up man and his grown up daughter say they fell in love and want to marry your kind will say well it's their life, it does not affect me…. can you see now that you are sick?
Conclusively, the lessons from this unfortunate incident can be summarized as thus;
1)     Death can come at any time; be prepared to meet your Lord.
2)     Fame and fortunes are but illusions, what matters is your relationship with your Creator.
3)     The enjoyment of this world is fleeting; don't let it deceive you.
4)     Live a good life; one that does not involve promoting lewdness or any type of evil; death and Judgment is real and it is no respecter of status.
5)     It was the honour given her musical mentors that led the lady to not just music but a meaningless form upon which her life ended so let's ensure that we do not turn scum into icons because people will sure emulate them.
May God Almighty give the family fortitude to bear the lost and guide them aright.

A blogger friend of mine told me about her marriage 2years ago but I didn't believe. So I'm as surprised as you are. She and her husband kept it away from the public.
They got married in 2005, have a private home in the UK and were planning to have kids this year.

Andrew Harvey during an interview on NET revealed that he spoke to Goldie the day she died. He posted these pictures in her memory. I still don't know how the Prezzo 'equation' came in, however, Andrew has asked him to stay off their family!

As her fans, colleagues and friends continue to express shock over her untimely death, Kenyan rapper and her Big Brother Africa star game colleague with whom she was romantically linked wrote this emotional tribute on his facebook page.

God saw you were getting tired, and a
cure was not meant to be
So he put his arms around you, and
whispered come with me
With tearful eyes we watched you, as
we saw you pass away
Although we love you deeply, we could
not make you stay
Your golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us…
He only takes the best

Prezzo I gathered is in Lagos to pay tribute to the deceased singer! Meanwhile the main cause of her death hasn't been revealed.

It's been pretty difficult crafting an intro for this particular story, yes people die everyday but Goldie's death sent millions of shock waves. Here was a person who still replied her Valentine messages on twitter yesterday- hours before she gave up.
Susan Bimpe Harvey popularly called Goldie died few hours after returning from US where she attended the Grammy Awards I gathered complained of severe headache before she collapsed and was rushed to Reddington hospital where she breathed her last.

Kenny Ogungbe, CEO, Kennis Music, the label which Goldie was signed on till her death,  who understandably is still reeling in shock has issued a terse statement regarding this unfortunate incident.

"With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening.
We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away; the abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her. She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters.
We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media for their concern and prompt reportage. We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are devastated by the sudden loss."

The remains of the Ekiti Indigene has been dislodged at the Lekan Ogunsola Memorial House of the Ikeja General Hospital. Friends, colleagues who were spotted at the hospital include Denrele, Kenny and I'd Ogungbe, Uti Nwachukwu, Karen Igho, STV presenter Yvonne 'Vixen' Ekwere and a host of others.

May her soul find repose. Amen!

Toni Payne

In the spirit of Valentine, Toni Payne's whispering friend, UN Ambassador of Peace and Convener of Charity Lounge, Amb. Chaste Inegbedion penned this poem to her. It's a simple but nice one!

To a woman
Whose love speaks aloud
Strong, bubbly
Virtues of no count

Ravishing angel
Accept my cheer
Brainy, talented
She's an immense dear

It's a special day
A special moment
For this lady
May goodness trail

More Exploits
Wings to her dreams
Eternal smile
Plants that pretty face

I could never wish you pain
Fulfilling years in delight
Hail Toni
My Queen of Spotlight
